Las canciones calladas
Published in 2017 within the Pétalo collection of Editorial Gente Nueva — dedicated to readers over twelve — Canción callada gathers thirty-six love poems by José Raúl Fraguela. Love as a profound feeling, at any age, in any society, in any era: that is the current that runs through every poem.
The volume was edited with impeccable care by Amanda Calaña Carbonell. The design and composition belong to Yuset Sama Leal. The interior illustrations are by Alexander Izquierdo Plasencia, who sustains the visual logic of the cover — human effigies with the features of birds, in allusion to the metaphorical flight that both love and poetry produce.
The prologue, titled «La música callada del amor y la poesía», was written by the poet and critic Jesús David Curbelo, who reaches directly toward the reader the book was made for. The book is dedicated by its author to his family, and to all who wish to share in the notes of this silent song.
